Brain Waves in Meditation

What happens when you don't know that you can't do something? When you just do it and when ideas become unlimited? When you don’t care if something has been proved possible or not?

”Logic will get you from A to Z; imagination will get you everywhere.”

— Albert Einstein

Sound and light waves stimulate different areas of your brain which gives you the chance to experience new thoughts besides your normal habits. Gong Sound Baths are usually a short cut into altered meditative states. Our brain waves are vibrating at different frequencies which is creating our way of experiencing and our consciousness. Each person has a unique brain wave signature.

BRAIN WAVES FREQUENCY CHART

GAMMA BRAIN WAVES - 31-100 Hz
heightened perception, problem solving, learning

BETA BRAIN WAVES - 13-30 Hz
fully awake, logical thinking, consciousness

ALPHA BRAIN WAVES - 8-12 Hz
bridge between conscious and unconscious, daydreaming, imagination replacing logic, recently learned experiences are filed here, relaxation

THETA BRAIN WAVES - 4-7 Hz
during deep meditation or sleep, intuition and visions, inspiration

DELTA BRAIN WAVES - 1-3 Hz

deep unconscious sleep, no dreams, cells and immune system being restored

Interestingly, the Schumann resonance (“heart beat” of planet Earth) average is at 7.83 Hz, right in between Alpha and Theta waves. It is innate to our feeling of wellbeing and alignment with nature.

In deep meditation we are changing the frequency of our brain waves in a way that we become no longer limited to our body or to a 3d material world. We become aware of our awareness, accessing our innate intelligence which is also conducting body repair once we reached a delta state.

"In the practice of meditation, a deep delta state is associated with total cosmic consciousness, also known as No Mind or the The Void in Buddhist philosophy, and the Supra-Mental State or Turiya, the State of Supreme Neutrality, in Hindu Yoga."
- Don Conreaux

In this neutral state of not being awake while not being asleep we are free from judgement, which enables us to become completely open to new ideas and possibilities. Our personal ego only returns as we return to the material consciousness of Beta activity. Integrating the meditative experience in our being by regular practice, we heighten our intuition, creativeness and become better able to remain calm within the storms of life.

"Imagination is like a muscle.
I found out that the more I wrote the bigger it got."
- Philip José Farmer

So often we choose or adopt how we believe things to be working for us and establish certain habits without questioning ourselves again if this actually (still) fits how we want to be. Leaving our comfort zones to give more space to our imagination might not be easy in the beginning, yet extremely enjoyable once you got into creating something of your own.

"Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?"
"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to." said the Cat.
"I don't much care where - " said Alice.
"Then it doesn't matter which way you go." said the Cat.
"- so long as I get SOMEWHERE." Alice added as an explanation.
"Oh, you're sure to do that," said the Cat, "if you only walk long enough."
- Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

I wish you all the courage and strength and patience it takes to only walk long enough, so you can find out about the place your imagination would like to take you.
